We should raise them as the generation that moves on a modern and bright path

As the precautions taken under the pandemic didn’t let people celebrate April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day together, Mayor Akgün stated his message as, “Under great difficulties and struggles, The Grand National Assembly of Turkey was formed, and the sovereignty of the nation was declared 101 years ago today on April 23, 1920. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk gifted this day to all the children worldwide, which are the light of our future. I commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with respect and gratitude, who gifted this momentous day to our children. Our children are the stars of our future, and Gazi Mustafa Kemal entrusted them to us. We should raise them as the generation that proceeds on a modern and bright path. We must raise our children as educated, equipped, and independent individuals in the way of unity and solidarity. They are our future, the future of our country. We will continue to celebrate the one and only children’s holiday that Great Atatürk gave to our children with the same enthusiasm since the first day, and we shall continue to do so. I commemorate Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and those who contributed to our national independence struggle with respect and gratitude.
