You can become the eyes and ears of the visually impaired by reading a book
The “Audio Book Project”, which was implemented by Büyükçekmece Municipality, Boğaziçi University Technology and Education Center for the Visually Impaired (GETEM) and Büyükçekmece Environment Culture and Tourism Association for the visually impaired, becomes the eyes and ears of our visually impaired citizens.
The electronic book reading booth, realized within the scope of the Audio Book Project, welcomes popular writers. The couple of writers Aydın and Nilgün Ilgaz, who read their own books for the visually impaired, called out to their author friends; "If you want your voices to be the eyes of the visually impaired, we would like you to read a book you want in Büyükçekmece Atatürk Culture Center. "We want you to be aware of how valuable a project it is for them.”
Anyone can contribute to the project
The 'Audio Book Project' for the visually impaired, which is carried out in cooperation with Büyükçekmece Municipality, Boğaziçi Technology and Education Center for the Visually Impaired (GETEM) and Büyükçekmece Environment Culture and Tourism Association, becomes the eyes and voice of the visually impaired. Writer couple Aydın and Nilgün Ilgaz, who supported the project, entered the electronic reading booth and red their own books for the visually impaired.
"Let's share by reading”
Noting that the project is a very meaningful and special project, and invited all author friends to support the project, Ilgaz couple expressed their views as follows:
Aydın Ilgaz: “I am also reading a book in the project, “let your voice be our eyes”. We read a new book here today. I am a writer. I write children's books and novels. We will read for you and you will listen to us so that this project initiated by our Mayor of Büyükçekmece, Dr. Hasan Akgün, will help visually impaired children. I want to start this project with you today. My biggest desire is; If you come and help us, we can read and share the books with you. If you want to work in this project, please contribute to this project initiated by Hasan Akgün by supporting Büyükçekmece Municipality and thus our visually impaired children will listen to the books.”
Nilgün Ilgaz: “If we all empathize with what it means to be unable to see when we think for a moment, we will be able to better understand its difficulties. That's why we wanted to be their voice and ears, and we came here to read our books for them. In this project initiated by Büyükçekmece Municipality in cooperation with Boğaziçi University Technology and Education Center for the Visually Impaired, we would like you to come here and read a book you want at the Atatürk Cultural Center if you want your voice to be the eyes of the visually impaired. We want you to be aware of how valuable a project it is for them.”
